-18 °C a sound composition by Eva Sajanová draws inspiration from the everyday sounds of a freezer, a common appliance found in nearly every household. Through Slúchadlo, the author transforms this sound into an imaginary portal into a Petržalka apartment building. Via a single shared appliance, she connects different households and brings to our attention the everyday life that unfolds behind the walls of individual apartments. Recordings of doors opening and closing, drawers getting stuck, and the handling of frozen food, plastic, or ice compose the rhythm of the lives unfolding here. The freezer becomes a space for accumulating, setting aside, and storing. A tool that allows us to save, yet at the same time constantly put things off until later. The composition thus asks: How many lives can fit into a single freezer?
